Artistic Director

Sean has been with the Cheyenne Chamber Singers as a singer since 1993, and as Conductor since 2011, following founder Dr. Jane Iverson. In 2021 he retired after 29 years as the Music Coordinator  for Laramie County School District #1, providing curriculum and activity guidance to 60 teachers serving 12,000 students K-12 in Cheyenne’s 34 public schools in .  Sean is an active conductor and clinician for both instrumental and vocal ensembles, as well as a frequent presence on the Cheyenne Little Theatre stage or ‘in the pit’.

In 2006, Sean became the director of the Cheyenne Civic Concert Band, a 90 member community ensemble which produces a summer concert series in Cheyenne.  He was the founder and director of the Cheyenne Trombone Ensemble, and started the tradition of Tuba Christmas taking place in Cheyenne.  

A third-generation native of Wyoming, Sean received his Bachelors in Music Education from the University of Wyoming, and has done advanced studies in Educational Administration and Music at UW, Kansas State and Colorado State Universities.  In May 2007, the University of Wyoming College of Arts and Sciences recognized Sean as an Outstanding Alumnus.

Executive Director
Cheyenne Chamber Singers – Cheyenne, WY
Position Summary
The Cheyenne Chamber Singers seek a dynamic and detail-oriented Executive Director to oversee the day-to-day non-musical operations of the organization. This position requires strong administrative, organizational, and communication skills, as well as a passion for the performing arts and a commitment to advancing the choir’s mission of artistic excellence and community engagement.
The Executive Director serves as a vital link between the Board of Directors, Artistic Director, singers, and community, ensuring that concerts, events, and organizational activities run smoothly. The successful candidate will demonstrate professionalism, creativity, and the ability to balance multiple priorities in support of the organization’s artistic and operational goals.
Key Responsibilities
Administration, Governance & Financial Management
• Serve as an ex-officio member of the Board of Directors and attend all Board meetings.
• Maintain regular communication with the Artistic Director, Board Chair, and Marketing Director to align administrative and artistic goals.
• Perform general bookkeeping duties, including maintaining financial records, tracking income and expenses, and assisting the Treasurer with reporting.
• Coordinate with the Treasurer and Artistic Director on financial administration, including artist fees, salaries, contractor payments, and deposits.
• Assist in preparing and monitoring the annual budget.
• Maintain organized administrative and financial files, contracts, and records.
Concert & Event Operations
• Reserve rehearsal and performance spaces.
• Negotiate contracts for concert dates, rehearsal facilities, and performance venues.
• Arrange and oversee ticketing for concerts, including online and in-person sales.
• Manage facility set-up and logistics for concerts, rehearsals, and organizational events.
• Schedule and coordinate the season kickoff, annual meeting, and other events.
Marketing & Promotion
• Work closely with the Marketing Director to enhance the visibility and reputation of CCS.
• Coordinate graphic design, printing, and production of concert programs, posters, and publicity materials.
• Oversee printing and distribution of promotional materials throughout the community to broaden audience reach.
• Support communications efforts, including social media and community engagement.
Fundraising & Development
• Assist with the planning, coordination, and execution of fundraising events and campaigns.
• Support Board committees in donor cultivation, sponsorship development, and community partnerships.
• Collaborate on Development Fund activities that sustain the artistic and educational mission of the Chamber Singers.
Membership & Special Projects
• Maintain consistent communication with singers and Board members during and between performance seasons.
• During travel years, assist in forming and supporting the travel committee.
Qualifications
• Strong organizational, communication, and administrative skills.
• Basic bookkeeping and financial management experience required.
• Applicant must provide bookkeeping software.
• A passion for the arts and commitment to the mission of the Cheyenne Chamber Singers.
• Ability to work collaboratively with artistic leadership, Board members, and volunteers.
• Experience in arts administration, nonprofit management, or related field preferred.
• Proficiency with office software, accounting tools (e.g., QuickBooks or similar), online ticketing platforms, and social media tools desirable.
Compensation & Hours
• Part-time position; hours vary with the concert season and organizational needs.
• Salary: $5,000 annually.

About the Cheyenne Chamber Singers
Founded in 1991, the Cheyenne Chamber Singers is a premier auditioned community ensemble dedicated to performing a diverse repertoire of choral music at the highest artistic level. Under the leadership of Artistic Director Sean Ambrose, the ensemble continues a tradition of excellence established by founding director Dr. Jane M. Iverson. The Singers present concerts that enrich the cultural life of southeastern Wyoming, foster artistic collaboration, and celebrate the transformative power of music.
As an ensemble of gifted volunteer singers supported by part-time staff, the Cheyenne Chamber Singers are recognized for both artistic achievement and community impact. Through performances, outreach, and partnerships, the group seeks to engage audiences of all ages while cultivating a vibrant and enduring choral tradition.

Wade Holzapfel

Collaborative Pianist

Wade serves the community as the director of music at First United Methodist Church in Cheyenne.  He is the artistic director for the Cheyenne Capital Chorale. In addition, Wade is the collaborative pianist for the Cheyenne Chamber Singers and LCCC. He also teaches piano privately in his own studio. During the off season, Wade is involved in regional and local theater productions.

Jane Iverson

Jane Iverson

Director Emeritus

Dr. Jane M. Iverson is the founder and artistic director of the Cheyenne Chamber Singers. A native of Minnesota, she completed her undergraduate studies at St. Olaf College, earned her M.M. from Minnesota State University at Mankato, and her D.A. from the University of Northern Colorado.

She was the Coordinator of Music at Laramie County Community College for nine years. During that time, she received a Teaching Excellence Award for the Arts and Humanities Division three times. In 2004, she received the Wyoming Governor’s Arts Award for her outstanding contributions to the arts in Wyoming. In 2008, she was the recipient of the St. Olaf College Alumni Achievement Award.  Jane is a past president of the Wyoming American Choral Directors Association.
